On February 14, 2008, my school newspaper published a special V-Day edition. V-Day is a rape awareness day sponsored by an organization affiliated with Eve Ensler, the producer of The Vagina Monologues. A graphic on the front page was an anatomical diagram of a vagina, the type one might find in a health text book. Shortly after the paper's distribution, the administration announced that teachers were not to distribute the paper and began confiscating issues, allegedly even snatching copies from students' hands as they read. The administration called the vagina graphic "obscene material". The next day, in protest, several students wore t-shirts reading "My Vagina is 'Obscene'." Many were sent to the dean and at least four were sent home for the day. I made these flyers and posted them around the school in protest of the administrations blatant censorship.
Wow, the authority seems to get more stupid and irrational by the minute. If you guys were advertising rape awareness, why would they stop you? I don't think there's anything obscene about an anatomical diagram of a vagina. I mean, it is in our textbooks, as you stated.
I think administration is afraid of teens who are aware.
great work on the poster, it really does speak and get the point across.
the people at your school must be really bold to wear those shirts, no one at mine would! It's nice to see people really standing up for something they believe in.

You can't kill the demon, you can only educate it.
